1. From the year 1979 to 1981, worked as lecturer Turuvekere Tumkur Distrct, Kolar first Grade College, Kolar district and Dr. Ambedkar Ist grade college Bangalore.
2. Joined as inspector of Central Excise and Customs in the year 1981 and promoted as Superintendent of Central Excise and Customs in the year 1997. Took voluntary retirement in the year 2005 (at the verge of getting promotion as Asst. commissioner) to serve and contribute to the younger generation.
3. Three years worked as faculty with National academy of Customs, excise and Narcotics, Bangalore. Training department officers.
4. Guest faculty Madurai Kamaraj University, for M.Phil. Students.

Moved out of CommodityIndia in June 2004 to Head the Business Development wing of Regional Food Research Analysis Centre, a non-profit organization involved in Food Testing and Certification services for a brief period of six months. Worked closely with ITC-IBD, ITC Foods, UB Holdings, ISKON Akshayapaatra and several SMEs involved in food business for end-to-end solutions on food safety & quality.

As the Retail Business Head at M/s. Indira Foods during the period Nov. 2004 – June 2006, Jyothi Vijay developed the most efficient alternate promotional channel for the expanding FMCG firm. Developed extensive network with traditional and modern retailers. She continues to serve M/s. Indira Foods as Consultant- Retail Marketing and Exports.

Her journey in the field of Management Education begun three years ago (June 2006) with one of the Icfai University affiliates. She has hands-on-experience in employability training for graduate and post-graduates.
